Worcester County Poetry Association

HISTORY 
The Worcester County Poetry Association was founded in 1971 by Dr. Samuel Bachrach and Professor Michael True, and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1972.

MISSION 

  • Celebrate the rich literary history and creative energy of Central Massachusetts through public readings, workshops, festivals, scholarly conferences and other programs.·
  • Publication of  the literary journal The Worcester Review·
  • Collaborate with libraries, bookstores, colleges and universities, museums, churches, schools, community centers, businesses and a variety of cultural organizations to promote poetry events.

ORGANIZATION 

WCPA is a nonprofit  organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and Executive Officers elected by the membership in an annual public meeting.·

The WCPA Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the Association offices.  Meetings are open to all members. ·

Membership is open to all individuals and organizations interested in promoting the literary arts.  

FUNDING  
Worcester County Poetry Association is a  501(c)(3) organization funded through membership fees, publication sales,  grants and donations.  WCPA receives organizational support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and has received generous programming support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, Worcester Cultural Commission, Massachusetts Cultural Council, as well as other organizations and private donations..

‘TRIOS: A Balance of 3’ features the work of 80 regional artists, each presenting 3 works of art that unify together as a whole, brought together by a single concept, inspiration, method, material, palette or mood – expressed through paint, photography, photomontage, collage, assemblage, sculpture, glass, enamel, encaustic, craft, fiber, video, multimedia and installation.

SlowRaiser 2021 – 6.5th Annual ArtRaiser, May 1 – May 15, 2021.

“SlowRaiser” is the Sprinkler Factory’s 6.5th annual ArtRaiser – art auction event – of donated original art in support of Sprinkler Factory’s mission to serve the Worcester Arts Community.

Donated artworks will be entered into a silent auction that will be slowly auctioned, May 1 – May 15, 2021.

Over the past 5 years many hundreds of artworks donated by local artists have been entered into the ArtRaiser auction with a goal to support the growth of the nonprofit arts organization, AGSF, Inc. (Artists’ Group of the Sprinkler Factory).

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION

SCHEDULE :::

The show is scheduled to be on view for 5 weeks; Thursday, June 10 – Saturday, July 10, 2021. Pre exhibition art drop off will begin Monday, May 17, 2021.

CONCEPT :::

The concept of the “IN TANDEM” exhibit is for each participating artist to show 2 works of art that are counterparts to each other, bonded together by material, theme or technique.

ART :::

All media welcome. There is a size limitation of 60 x 60 inches for each 2d work. Some limitations may apply for sculpture and installations. All artwork must be installation ready; proper hanging wire, clean glass, thoughtful presentation, etc.

LABELS :::

Each artist will be responsible for providing Sprinkler Factory with the title, medium, year and price for each work. Artist Statements and/or Artist Bios are optional.

SALES :::

Artists keep 100% of any sale, no gallery commissions. Sprinkler Factory can hold cash or checks on behalf of the artists. If the artist has online payment options that info can be provided to potential buyers.

PARTICIPATION FEE :::

$80 payable online only.

HOW TO APPLY :::

email: info@sprinklerfactory.com with a brief description of your IN TANDEM idea and if possible you can include any supporting images and/or web links.

DEADLINE TO APPLY:::

Whichever comes first: Friday, May 7, 2021 or when the first 100 artists are accepted. Don’t wait, apply today!

CONFIRMATION :::

If you are accepted as an exhibiting artist you will be notified via email followed by a PayPal “Money Request” email from Artists’ Group of the Sprinkler Factory. Once the order is fulfilled you will be listed as an exhibiting artist along with your website or preferred social media page.

ART DROP OFF / INSTALLATION :::

Sprinkler Factory will be coordinating with each artist one on one to schedule a time to drop off artwork beginning the week of May 17, 2021.
